With the beginning of October 2019 28 newly arrived students of the Master in Eco-Social Design started exploring Casanova for envisioning its potentials as a vivid neighbourhood and a public space for commoning [1]. In collaboration with OfficineVispa the students developed prototypes of social infrastructures, that “can take the form of a physical or virtual space, which facilitates face-to-face encounters between people. They can range from smaller-scale one-off interventions to larger permanent structures.” [2] The works have been first exhibited in Casanova to invite the inhabitants to a creative dialogue for developing the ideas further. Part of the exhibition is the thesis project of Lea Luzzi, who designed a game and facilitated a participatory process to co-create ideas for ‘social infrastructures’ with the inhabitants of the neighbourhood. After this, the exhibition moved to Oltrisarco, where it is presented to the audience of the event “Commons in the City” with Ugo Mattei and Andrea Pradi. Last but not least we exhibit the works in the Faculty of Design & Arts.
Specials:
Friday, 16:00-17:00: guided tour for stakeholders in politics and public administration
Friday, 21:00: the SUPERNOVA FESTA! Dresscode: Clothes you’d be happy to get beautified with SUPERNOVA prints.
The project took place in the frame of the program “Public Space Innovation” by OfficineVispa, financed by the Stiftung Sparkasse. It is accompanied by the designers Karl Pircher and Kris Krois, together with Alastair Fuad-Luke (Design Research), Lisa Borgenheimer (Information Design & Visual Storytelling), Alvise Mattozzi (Sociology) and other teachers/researchers of the study course.
