Material Talks – Biofabricated Materials

Material Talks is a series of lectures focused on matter. This edition is all about biofabricated materials.

Date and Time: November 25, 18:00
Location: Online / Teams link

Material Talks is a series of lectures focused on matter. This evening we focus on biotinkering with Kombucha. Starting from an ongoing PhD research on material scenarios based on regenerative processes, including living materials and life-enabling materials, this lecture will briefly discuss sustainable scenarios based on biofabricated materials and their features. A special focus will be on bacterial cellulose as circular biofabricated material for design. A DIY-Material approach will be proposed to understand, grow and experiment with the by-product of kombucha fermentation.

Speakers: Barbara Pollini (Politecnico di Milano) and Emma Sicher (Free University of Bozen-Bolzano)

Organization: Material Talks, Aart van Bezooijen, Eva Bauer
