By Design or by Disaster

Giorgio Laboratore


Young and passionate designer, lives in Milan working on product and interior design.
Since his university years in Palermo organises many projects and events, amazing the design insiders public with his poetic and sincere design. Among the most important “Notturno a Palermo” by Philippe Daverio and “Design on the Sunny Side of the Street”, a traveling exhibition presented in 2006 during Fuorisalone.
In 2010 he moves to Milan, starting his collaboration with local craftsmen and manufacturers. In 2013 he collaborates with Vittorio Venezia developing a set of merchandising objects for Italian Culture Institute of Paris that are presented in a exhibition called “S/Coordinato”.
He currently works as a freelance designer for private clients and
companies. He also focuses on research working as tutor with
Politecnico in Milan and Abadir Academy in Catania.

Design & Materials

The course will be a journey trough production, transformation and
consumption of materials, in order to understand how to work in
one of more of these steps of products lifecycle. During the
course we will explore materials, analysing technical features and
aesthetic potential expressed in design projects for industry and
crafts, with a focus on environmental and social implications.
