Workshop
11:00 – 13:00, 9 May
F4 – Atelier 1
Let’s build our own social network
Presented by
Svenja Lettera
Once, social media felt like a radical tool for connection, community, and political discourse. In 2025, that notion no longer holds up against surveillance capitalism, algorithmic control, and billionaire overlords dictating the terms of engagement. But, What if we didn’t have to rely on the whims of the algorithm? What if the most sustainable way to stay connected was something we already have: email? In the workshop, we’ll claim ownership of our digital space by rethinking personal newsletters as decentralized social networks. Through creative exercises, we’ll develop themes that align with our interests, values, and politics, explore accessible and free tools, and share contacts to kickstart an independent mailing list. (Sharing contacts is voluntary, of course.) Please, bring a laptop or notepad.
