Joining forces ~ towards a union of transformation-engaged designers*
Presented by
Trans-local Trafo Team
unibz, HSLU, HFBK, HM, Angewandte
At DDcon25 a lot of students and teachers/researchers in transformation-engaged study courses gather. Let’s use this opportunity to elaborate ideas and actions on organising. How to join forces and mutually support each other? How to share care, knowledge, skills, resources, contacts, tools, channels, …? How to work in truly transformative ways and make a living at the same time? Are there emancipated positions of designing within established logics of employment? How to install related job profiles? How to co-create strong alternatives, through interconnected self-help groups, solidarity economies, support funds, and programs? How to act locally and trans-locally? How to interconnect beyond Europe? Who are our partners and allies? What can we learn from unions? How to formulate shared interests, generate visibility, and power? Which organizational models are promising?
With all these serious efforts, how to cultivate lightness and magic?
We will use our collective intelligence and creativity to collaborate on these questions, and come up with elegant next steps.
»Everyone designs who devises courses of action aimed at changing existing situations into preferred ones.« (Herbert A. Simon). Everyone, who is acting in this sense, is invited to join ~ not only persons with a formal design background.
