Hope is a body
Presented by
Charlotte Fleischmann, Marie-Luise Schega
In this workshop, we prioritize movement and process. What can we learn from disciplines where the body plays a bigger role? Our approach incorporates dynamics from theatre, dance and circus pedagogy with other movement-based awareness building techniques. We will flow through a set of dynamics that move from individual sense building toward collective awareness. We are intentionally process, not output-oriented: the outcome is a work of the collective – imagined and created in real time on site. We advocate for experimental discovery but creating a safe space takes top priority. This is not an inherently touch-based practice. To move is to feel is to connect is to act – is to hope.
About
Charlotte Fleischmann and Marie-Luise Schega (Charlie and Malu) met at a summer school in Switzerland two years ago. They bonded over their passion for process, freedom of expression, dancing with friends, and all the yet unexplored opportunities movement provides.
Charlie studied geography and international development and currently writes her diploma thesis in spatial planning at the TU Vienna. She djs, loves to dance, and generally has a spleen on nice sounds. She listens to and makes podcasts for the free radio Orange in Vienna. Within the last years she worked in various projects in the field of participation, education, social and ecological sustainability.
Malu’s education is rooted in the humanities and social business, with a more recent degree in landscape architecture. She has worked in creative collaboration with organisations and collectives in Australia, India and Europe. Current practices range across citizen participation in spatial planning, urban ecology and design, and explorations of movement and sound.
