C.O.W. – Circular Organic Waste: Design as a Gateway to Knowledge and Sustainable Transformation
Presented by
Björn Naumann, Karl Schinkel
Studio Zugang
In times of ecological crisis, we need not just technical solutions but new ways of thinking about energy and resources. C.O.W. – Circular Organic Waste is a mini bioreactor that mimics a cow’s digestion to turn organic waste into fuel gas and fertilizer, offering better methane control. It makes energy cycles visible and tangible while serving as a platform for education and dialogue. This talk explores how design can bridge science, technology, and society to drive sustainable change and make complex systems accessible.
About
Björn Naumann and Karl Schinkel are founding members of Studio Zugang, an interdisciplinary design studio based in Berlin/Halle. They make transformation processes visible and translate complex relationships into tangible experiences with one goal: to enable a better understanding of what is happening around us through clear design
