Radikale Rhythmen und Subversiver Tanz
Presented by
Ivan Chaparro
This workshop is inspired by the rich tradition of Afro-Indigenous music from across the Americas, which has been connected to resistance and activism for centuries. We will explore how these traditions have helped resilient individuals, activists and communities navigate challenging realities.
Through practical exercises centered on the concept of “subversive dance,” we aim to unlearn the power structures and epistemic categories internalized within the bodily disciplines of the systems we live in. Participants will engage in group activities focused on body awareness, rhythm, and groove, drawing inspiration from Afro-diasporic and Afro-Indigenous communal music traditions. These practices will serve as the foundation for collaborative performance experiments, fostering creative resilience and collective empowerment.
