Navigating the Contradictions of Power to Change the World

How can we achieve a society in which everyone can live well without destroying the climate? How can we spread solidarity where it meets violent limits? Can we build power to overcome power? The presentation will start by demonstrating the need for a social and ecological transformation towards a society based on solidarity. Then it will address the problems and contradictions that arise along the way. Based on two historical, situations it will examine the difficulties that arise when movements are forced to operate in the field of power. Two dead ends will be discussed: (1) aligning oneself so closely with the ruling power that you lose what you were fighting for (2) losing out the ruling power because your refuse to play its games. In the conclusion the question \u00b4How do we navigate through the contradictions of power in the here and now?\u2019 will be addressed.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Indigo is a climate activist. Together with many, she stopped RWE from destroying Hambacher Forest and five villages in order to increase the mines – Europe’s largest source of CO2. She is co-host of “Geschichte der kommenden Welten” and co-author of “Alles f\u00fcr alle. Revolution als Commonisierung”.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
